CRICKET OFFICER

Role Description

To oversee all levels of cricket at the club, with a specific focus on the development and success of senior cricket. You will be part of the Club Committee, will be required to attend monthly committee meetings, and will be the key representative of cricket at the club amongst your peers. You will coordinate and lead a Cricket sub-committee meeting involving all cricket leaders, including junior officer (focused on the development of junior cricket and associated support volunteers), team captains, coaches and other key volunteers to maximise the development opportunities for all members of the club – eg. Players (senior men, senior women and juniors), coaches, umpires, scorers, supporters etc.

You will have experience of playing or having played cricket at a good standard, be a good communicator and listener, and enthusiastic and committed in your desire to retain and grow the competitiveness of our cricket teams each season and with a long-term view, helping to ensure the suitability of and access to appropriate facilities and engagement within the local community. Most of all as the cricket leader you will help the club to provide a safe, fun and progressive and where appropriate competitive environment for all cricketers at the Club.

The Cricket Officer does not have to be the 1st XI or Club Captain, but by default this has tended to be the case. In the event that the 1st XI or Club Captain is the Cricket Officer, an option exists to nominate and elect an independent Chair of Selection as it relates to fair and balanced selection of teams for senior league matches.

JUNIOR CRICKET OFFICER

Role Description

Junior cricket is the foundation of Bearsted Cricket Club. Over the past 8 years the junior section has grown from a handful of players, to a large and committed section of young cricketers with age group sections from under 7’s through to U15’s, now seeing regular progression into senior league sides.

The Junior Cricket Officer will help to oversee the continued success and growth of junior cricket at the club, working with the Cricket Officer, Club Committee, the wider club coaches and parent volunteers to deliver cricket playing, training and development opportunities for all junior members of the club, coaches, umpires, supporters etc. The Junior Cricket Officer will liaise with the relevant leagues, their age group managers and the fixture secretary to arrange fixtures for the various teams that are both appropriate and competitive, appreciating the needs and capabilities of the players as they develop.

You will help the Club to continue to grow its junior cricket section, whilst providing a safe, fun and progressive environment for all junior cricketers at the Club with a clear and defined pathway to senior cricket, at our club or otherwise.

COMMS & ENGAGEMENT TEAM

Communication is the lifeblood that fuels sports clubs and member engagement. It creates a sense of belonging, builds and strengthens friendships, and amplifies the collective voice of a community. When sports clubs actively encourage and facilitate communication, they unlock a wealth of opportunities to nurture and expand their membership and standing in the community.

Do you enjoy your cricket and treasure the camaraderie and friendship that being part of a historic, community club brings. Do you have the enthusiasm, ideas and skills to join a small team that can become this lifeblood of our club, helping to further enhance our engagement with all players - of all ages, associate members and the wider community - through the organisation of events, the creative use of online and social platforms, other marketing initiatives and more.

As a member of the comms & engagement team, you will ideally be enthusiastic, motivated, have good communication skills and be well organised and committed. Ideally you will have a club first mentality and strong links in the club and / or the local community. Yours is a very important role in developing the ‘fabric’ of the club. As part of the team you will encourage people to join us, to stay and to continue to enjoy their role as club members.

COMMS & ENGAGEMENT OFFICER (COMMITTEE POSITION)

Role Description

You will lead and represent the Comms & Engagement team on the Club committee and at the monthly meetings. They will work with the team, the wider club membership and other parties, on the effective creation, coordination and publishing of external communications for the Club. Ensuring that messaging is consistent and engaging and serves to advance the success of the club on the field and in the community.

They will also ideate and manage the successful planning, organisation, and implementation of social events at the club, ensuring that the club regularly engages in a range of varied social activities with club members, players, parents and members of the Bearsted community.

MEMBERSHIP & COMPLIANCE TEAM

A club does not work without its members, therefore some of the most pivotal roles within the club are those within the membership and compliance team. As the club continues to grow on and off the field we are looking to review and improve how we handle membership - to enable more and better communications; stability and consistency when applying and receiving payments across increasing membership tiers; and importantly compliance with safeguarding and data protection regulations.

If you are interested in volunteering to help Bearsted Cricket Club as part of a small membership and compliance team; have an appreciation of current data protection (GDPR) regulations and are enthusiastic in your desire to support the development of the club at all levels, on and off the pitch, men’s and women’s, junior and senior, and playing and non-playing, please get in touch.

You will be approachable and a good communicator; an excellent and trusted administrator and team player who is able to help to maintain an accurate register of club members using the current Pitchero management system, but with a commitment to always developing and delivering on new ideas that can improve club membership operations.

More than anything, as a volunteer at Bearsted Cricket Club you will be supporting your Club and community – putting something back into your community and gaining the personal satisfaction of knowing you have helped others.

MEMBERSHIP & COMPLIANCE OFFICER (COMMITTEE POSITION)

Role Description

You will lead and represent the Membership & Compliance team on the Club Committee and will coordinate the successful management of processes and procedures in regard to Club Membership and management. Along with ensuring that the Club Committee is aware of and can fulfil all relevant safeguarding and compliance regulations for all club members.
