Bears win double header to set up cup final day

Under the captaincy of Leo Petty, Bearsted took on the mighty Mote in a league and cup semi-final double header on a clear Sunday morning.

After winning the toss Leo decided to put Mote into bat first. This was an inspired decision as Bearsted's bowlers restricted the Mote with one of their most impressive performances of the season. Wickets steadily fell and the scoring slowed, with Mote eventually ending their 20 overs on 221-9.Wickets were shared with Ollie 1-2, Ashley 1-5, Alex 2-6 and Luca 0-2. Special mention for Haydn who ended with 3-0 off his two overs.

Bearsted come out to bat and the first wicket pair of Alex (1) and Luca (22) got them off to a perfect start with 23 runs including a huge six from Luca. This was maintained by the second pair adding 16, with Spencer P hitting 15 including back to back boundaries with some excellent shots. Ashley and Haydn (12) kept the board ticking over , before the final pair of Joe (9) and Leo (18) secured a well deserved victory, ending on 274-6.

A 53 run victory was a reflection of the performance that the Bearsted players put in, with everyone contributing with bat and ball. Man of the match was Luca for some great death bowling which saw him take 2 wickets in the final Mote over and then being so positive and aggressive with his batting to set the tone for the others to follow.

The Bears now go marching onto final day on Sunday 25th August with spirits and confidence at an all time high!
